Seeing the World in Black and White
Award Winner Susan Coppock
This is my 15th year of teaching photography at SDA high school in Encinitas. Along with my love of teaching kids, I have a passion for night photography& storm chasing. I have been photographing for 40+ years and I am still thrilled every week by something I get to photograph innature. I love sharing this passion with my students & I realize how lucky I am to get to teach what I love. My work has won numerous awards including Best of Show & has been shown in magazines, personal collections & solo shows.
I am a storm chaser and nature photographer. Most of my work is night photography of the Milky Way, star trails, moon shots (including the 2017 Solar Eclipse), and thunderstorms including cloud formations and lightning. The title of my show "We are Stardust" refers to the feeling I get when surrounded by the night sky & the power of nature and her fury. I try to showcase the awe and spirit I feel during these times in my photography. I like to share this feeling with others who may not be as fortunate to witness what I do in my travels.
