Daring to Defy the Medium: What is Collage?
March 20, 2015 -  June 20, 2015

Definition:(noun) - Webster's dictionary defines collage as "an artistic composition made of various materials (as paper, cloth, or wood) glued on a picture surface". Collage derives its name from the French verb coller,to glue. Collage is a work of art that has been fabricated by gluing things to the surface. Picasso glued oil cloth to his surface, Kurt Schwitters glued newspapers, and other discarded materials into his works but called his collages -assemblages. But according many art books, assemblage is supposed to be three dimensional and differs from collage in that respect, since collage by nature, is only two  dimensional.

This juried exhibition showcases the stylistic works of 37 artists and their interpretation of collage.
